Swain High receives fleet of bikes.
Here at Bryson City Bicycles we have always focused on giving back to our community. It’s an integral part of our business plan. In April we donated 17 bikes, 20 helmets, an enclosed cargo trailer and lots of other bikey stuff to Swain County High School to encourage and provide fun, healthy, active opportunities for outdoor recreation.
The feedback is already stellar: kids clamoring to ride the bikes during PE class, the High School student leadership team using the bikes for a mini triathlon, and lots of talk about intramurals and summer programs. Our hope is to get kids hooked on bikes, an active pursuit they can carry with them throughout their lives. Our dream is that Swain High School will eventually start a competitive bike team through the National Interscholastic Cycling Association – NICA. But donating the bikes is just the first pedal stroke of a potentially long, thrilling ride. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to make this happen.
